100 cases of surgery using meerecompany's Revo-i achieved in Uzbekistan

- Plan to grow around Uzbekistan in Middle Asia, which is considered a wasteland in terms of robotic surgery

- A meeting arranged to exchange robotic surgery information between 4 countries: "South Korea, U.S., Uzbekistan, and Russia"

- Professor Daniel Eun, an expert in robotic surgery from the U.S., successfully performed prostatectomy using Revo-i

On the 19th, meerecompany (CEO: Joon Koo Kim) said that Shox International Hospital, the first in Uzbekistan to use a surgical robot, achieved 100 cases of robotic surgery within only 10 months after the introduction of the surgical robot Revo-i, and an event to celebrate this achievement was successfully finished.

The event held by Shox International Hospital on the 10th was for celebrating achievement of cumulative 100 cases of robotic surgery since the introduction of the surgical robot Revo-i in Uzbekistan of Middle Asia, which is considered a wasteland in terms of robotic surgery, and for reassuring the intent for cooperation and promotion of robotic surgery.

At this event, △Inoyatov Amrillo Shodievich, the Minister of Health in Uzbekistan, △Ho Kun Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Surgical Robot Division of meerecompany, and △medical staff and personnel from local major hospitals, including Dr. Zarifkhoja BaKhadirkhanov from the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Urology in Uzbekistan, attended.

Also, Dr. Daniel Eun, a professor of Urology at Temple University School of Medicine, who is an expert of robotic surgery was invited for a live surgery observation that was open to Korean and Russian medical staff. For the first live surgery, Dr. Zarif, who led the achievement of 100 cases of robotic surgery using Revo-i, demonstrated robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN). For the second live surgery, professor Daniel Eun demonstrated robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP), which drew a great deal of attention. Then, a session was arranged to share experience and know-how about robotic surgery between 4 countries.

meerecompany's Revo-i is the first domestically developed and successfully commercialized surgical robot that features a high-resolution 3D stereoscopic image, wide view, and multi-joint devices to support fine and delicate motions. Shox International Hospital introduced Revo-i last September for the first time in the Middle Asia region, serving as a pioneer of robotic surgery in that region. It is currently performing high-difficulty robotic surgeries based on the strengths of Revo-i in multiple clinical departments, including urology, surgery, and OBGYN.

"I'm so glad that now I can provide better treatment to patients in my country," said Dr. Zarif, who led the introduction of robotic surgery in Uzbekistan and performed 100 cases of surgery. "Going forward, I will encourage technique transfer and medical knowledge programs so that I can offer high-quality robotic surgery for more patients," he added.

"Since urologic organs sit deep inside the body, the robot's strength that allows for very detailed motion is maximized. This surgery was successful," said Professor Daniel Eun, who was invited to the event and performed the live surgery.

“South Korea was also behind in regard to robotic surgery in the past, but now it's standing out as a major country in the robot industry since it owns a K-surgical robot. This could be achieved thanks to active national support and Korean medical professionals' world-class techniques. I expect that robotic surgery in Uzbekistan will soon become famous as well, and we will fully cooperate for relevant education and clinical help,” said Ho Kun Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Surgical Robot Division of meerecompany.

“Revo-i was recognized for its excellent technology, so the demand for it is rising in Uzbekistan. Once again, I've found positive possibilities from this event,” he added.
